Is that an African spurred tortoise (Geochelone sulcata)? I didn't know the raised peaks on the carapace could be so pronounced in this species; reminds me a bit of the star tortoises.
Yes, this is a Sulcata - the pyramids are due to a poor diet (fresh vegetables & fruit instead of dry grasses) when Merlin was a younger tortoise. Who knows what sort of internal shell deformities exist?
